India has so far recorded four instances of BF.7 sub-variant of Omicron, which is the strain that is causing the present rise in Covid-19 infection in China. This information was provided by the India Today Web Desk. According to the sources, BF.7 variant instances have been found in the state of Gujarat as well as in the state of Odisha.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Wednesday issued updated recommendations in response to the rising number of coronavirus infections reported in China, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, and the United States. In addition to this, it has been requested that state governments scale up genome sequencing efforts and take preventative action against the spread of the virus.

THE FOLLOWING IS A SUMMARY OF THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENTS IN THE STORY:

  • According to reports citing sources inside the Union Ministry of Health, there have been four confirmed cases of the BF.7 form of Omicron in the country. Although there have been three cases found in Gujarat, only one has been linked to the state of Odisha.

It is believed that BF.7, which is a sub-lineage of the Omicron variation BA.5, is more infectious than the other coronavirus variants that have been discovered up to this point. It has a shorter incubation time, and a stronger potential to induce reinfection, and it may infect even individuals who have been vaccinated against the disease. It is highly transmissible.

  • Mansukh Mandaviya, the Minister of the Union Ministry of Health, conducted an assessment of the state of the coronavirus epidemic in the nation and urged citizens to engage in behaviour that is consistent with COVID, such as donning masks when they are in crowded areas and to be vaccinated.

Mansukh Mandaviya added, "The COVID exercise is not yet over. I have given warnings to everyone involved, and I have increased the amount of monitoring. We are ready to handle everything that may come our way."

  • According to sources inside the ministry of health, coronavirus testing using samples drawn at random would be carried out on overseas travelers. The tests will be conducted at airports that are used by passengers traveling in from China as well as travelers traveling in from other nations.

  • A number of state governments have also declared a variety of steps to prevent the sickness from spreading further. The government of Karnataka has announced that it would begin to monitor travelers flying internationally via Bengaluru airport. In addition, the Minister of Health for the state of Gujarat, Rushikesh Patel, requested that authorities implement "mandatory" testing for tourists coming to the state from other nations.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, convened an emergency meeting on Thursday to discuss the level of preparation for COVID.

  • As a result of an increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 in China, the central and state governments have activated their warning systems. Experts in Chinese medicine have issued a warning that the recent outbreak of Covid-19 infections that has swept across China may lead to changes in the virus.

Videos that have been posted on social media reveal that medical resources are suffering extra stress and that the caseload at hospitals is too high because of Covid-19. Mortuaries in Chinese cities are likewise struggling to keep up with the number of fatalities, despite the fact that the Chinese government has not provided any official confirmation of this fact.

Some computer models have speculated that during the following few months, sixty percent of the population in China might get infected with the virus and that the number of fatalities could rise to one million.
